Junkyard Dogs is an ongoing documentary study on the publicly open junkyards (affectionately called pick-n-pulls) of Chicagoland. Cars as far as the eye could see, all ready and willing to be opened, torn into, and investigated.
Cars are rusted, moldy, mangled, ripped, melted corpses, waiting to be dissected. Each tells a story, whether its a bumper sticker reading "God is Real," what seems to be blood splatters staining a front seat, a vinyl wrap featuring a long-dead business, or custom paintjobs.
Gradually, they all get picked apart, leaving scarred and misshapen forms. However, these cars live on. Their parts live second lives in the vehicles of their patrons. It's a place of death, decay, and rebirth.
fortunately, beauty in this world is not rare
