Through a prolific photographic practice, Chloe Brown investigates her fascination with American Decay. Though subject matter ranges between dense chinatowns, rural californian farm fields, small towns bathed in stagnation and even action-portraiture, there is a clear continuing thread. Gambling, crumbling infrastructure, advertising becoming more intrusive, moral rot, personal risk to safety, artificiality, blind following of trends, division, disappearing middle class, loss of social mobility, loss of meaning in day to day activities. Increase in christian violence and signaling, electronic American flags, gun worship. Everyone's safe if everyone's armed, right? Everything is optimized and perfected. Petrocapitalism taken to its logical conclusion. It's all over us. I want to be there. I want to see it. I will be there for it. I just need to be there. With my camera. Does this make sense to you? Does it? Are you ready?
